Yoga Nidra Meditation
Yoga Nidra is sleep yoga, or a yoga that one does between the waking and sleeping state. In this yoga you don’t move at all. In fact you spend the entire session laying down comfortably on your back with your eyes closed while listening to me offer you a gentle guided meditation.
It has been said that 1 hour of Yoga Nidra is worth three hours of seep sleep. The actual practice of Yoga Nidra initially encourages prolonged “alpha wave” activity, which has been scientifically proven to induce deep relaxation, reduce stress, spark creativity and much more.
The Yoga Nidra technique is all about being completely relaxed, allowing you to get very very deep into a still meditation. Any one can do it. It can be especially helpful for those you find it hard to settle in traditional seated meditation. In Yoga Nidra my guided meditation brings you to awareness of your body and breath and then takes you away form the thinking mind and drops you naturally into the feeling body and the being state. From this “being” state you make subtle positive shifts—in your patterns of reactions—and how you filter your experience of the world. Yoga Nidra is different from common seated meditation techniques. Not only are you laying down on your back, completely at ease, Yoga Nidra is a very focused guided meditation that uses intention. The guidance invites you to make actual shifts in deep habitual habit patterns that may be interfering with your well being and hindering your progression toward your goals. Most significantly, Yoga Nidra meditation helps you make these wholesome subtle shifts through the power of intention while you are in a deep relaxed state.
